Terminal D Ramp Expansion, DFW International Airport, Texas

The purpose of the project was to modify existing facilities at Terminal D to accommodate the Airbus A-380-800, one of the new FAA Airplane Design Group VI aircraft. This aircraft began flying into DFW at the end of September 2014. The Airbus A380-800 has a standard seating capacity of 555 passengers and a Maximum Take-Off Weight of 1,267,658 lbs.

IEA was responsible for the engineering of a large asphalt pavement area adjacent to the existing ramp to serve de-icing/anti-icing operations vehicles and capture glycol runoff from de-icing/anti-icing operations. The work included the relocation of existing Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) fencing and Cable Arresting Safety System (CASS); installation of new barrier fencing; extension of the area storm drainage system for collection; reconstruction of access roadway for tenant operations; and adjustment of existing items to remain such as manholes.
