US 87 from IH 20 to FM 700 in Big Springs, Howard County, TX, TxDOT

The US 87 project in Big Spring, TX provides for the construction of approximately 8 miles of new location freeway on US 87 in Howard County. The project consists of excavation, embankment, drainage structures, bridges, retaining walls, asphalt pavement, illumination, and pavement markings. IEA is responsible for providing total construction management for the project including inspection, records management, and material management.

IEA is responsible for all construction management on the project. IEA ensures appropriate inspection takes place, materials are tested at the required rates, and the records are kept according to TxDOT and Industry best practices.

The project has a construction cost of $70M.

Quality of Work: IEA works to ensure a quality project by following Industry best practices for construction management including regular audits, effective communication, and periodic quality reviews.

Cost Savings: IEA is currently evaluating alternatives to steel bridge girders in order to accelerate the project and minimize time and money spent constructing a new railroad bridge.
