IEA was founded in 2007 by Shakeel Ahmed, PE. Shakeel had a vision to create an engineering firm that staked its reputation on providing cost savings and innovations for its clients. Coming from the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) as a Senior Project Manager, Shakeel was consistently looking for firms that knew and understood the owner’s needs, and the ultimate constructability and sustainability of a project.
Our initial project was the proposal phase of the DFW Connector Design/Build (D/B) for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Shakeel quickly interviewed the first hire of IEA at a Braum’s in Dallas, since IEA office space was still a vision on the drawing board. For two years, Shakeel hired one employee a month to sustain IEA's project needs and moved from office to office, expanding to provide efficient work space for IEA's employees.
In 2009, we were a member of the team awarded the DFW Connector project and the Orange Line 1 and 2 Design/Build (D/B) project for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). These two D/B projects began our company’s trend for cost savings, accelerated and constructible design, and serving the owner’s needs throughout the entire process.
Now ten years later, our firm has grown to over 50 employees with diversified services, including project management, engineering, and asset management. We have worked on 10 D/B projects (and counting!) and have provided our services to many Federal, State, and local agencies and municipalities. Our headquarters office is in Dallas, with two branch offices in Fort Worth and Houston.
We are proud to serve our clients, our community, and our fellow staff members. At IEA, we strive to cultivate an organizational atmosphere that encourages and rewards knowledge sharing and training to hone skills for better cross training, thus improving our value.
Our products impact our community, so we provide the highest quality, value, and service to ALL of our clients.
